Abstract

The review was conducted using a systematic literature review following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches were performed on PubMed, DOAJ, Google Scholar, and GARUDA for articles published between 2020 and 2026 using combinations of keywords including postpartum blues, maternity blues, baby blues, primiparous, first-time mother, social support, anxiety, coping, and psychosocial factors. Anxiety, stress, unpreparedness for the maternal role, poor sleep quality, fatigue, low self-efficacy, marital dissatisfaction, economic pressure, unplanned pregnancy, negative birth experiences, and lack of knowledge increased vulnerability. These factors do not act independently but form a stress–adaptation–support pathway determining emotional stability during the first two postpartum weeks. Screening should begin during pregnancy and be repeated between days three and fourteen postpartum. Recommended interventions include partner education, shared caregiving responsibilities, support for sleep and physical recovery, brief counseling, and referral pathways for persistent or worsening symptoms.
