Abstract

This study aims to identify, categorize, and synthesize the various factors that influence resilience among children in orphanages through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA 2020 and JBI 2020 guidelines. The search was conducted across five databases (Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and PubMed) using keywords derived from the PEO framework and restricted to publications from 2020–2026. The findings indicate that resilience among children in orphanages results from the interaction of multiple internal and external factors, with social support from caregivers and a supportive caregiving environment emerging as the most consistent contributors to higher levels of resilience. These findings are expected to provide a scientific foundation for orphanage administrators, psychologists, social workers, and policymakers in designing intervention programs oriented toward strengthening protective factors to enhance the resilience of children in orphanages.
