Abstract

This study aims to describe the integration of the history of the Kesawan Area in history learning with an environment-based local history approach at SMA Negeri 11 Medan, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and analyze their impact on students' historical awareness and cultural identity. The qualitative method of the case study was used with observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models. The results showed that integration was carried out through structured planning, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting factors included teacher commitment and student enthusiasm; inhibitions included limited learning resources, time, and facilities. Integration had a positive impact on historical awareness, historical thinking, and cultural identity. Institutional support and the development of continuous teaching modules are needed.
