The Influence of Safety Training and Safety Communication on Safety Performance: The Mediating Role of Safety Culture

This study analyzes the effects of Safety Training and Safety Communication on Safety Performance via Safety Culture among 140 operational employees at PT Sagatrade Murni Samarinda, selected via purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted between January and May 2026. Using PLS-SEM via SmartPLS, the results reveal that Safety Training and Safety Communication positively affect Safety Culture, which subsequently influences Safety Performance. Interestingly, Safety Culture fully mediates these relationships, as direct effects on Safety Performance were non-significant. This paper contributes by highlighting Safety Culture as the critical underlying mechanism for enhancing performance. Practically, companies must prioritize cultural integration over standalone training and communication to optimize Occupational Health and Safety (K3) outcomes.
