Sustainable employee performance is important for maintaining public service quality. This study examines the effects of workload and work environment on sustainable employee performance, with work-life balance as a mediator at the Department of Education and Culture of Subang Regency. A quantitative causal design was applied to 154 of 250 employees selected through probability sampling. Data were collected through a five-point Likert questionnaire in 2026 and analyzed using SEM-PLS with SmartPLS 4. Workload had negative and significant effects on work-life balance and sustainable employee performance. Work environment had positive and significant effects on both outcomes. Work-life balance positively affected sustainable employee performance and significantly mediated both relationships. The findings support proportional workload allocation, supportive work conditions, and work-life balance policies.
